Laptop replacement help

Posted by Hamonikafe - May 22nd, 2023

TLDR:

My laptop is no longer working at the moment, but rather than invest in more repairs I've reached a point where I see it better to upgrade. Things such as the keyboard and audio jack no longer function, and it was volatile at best, slow to do anything and crashes often and would often stop working for days at a time. I can only cover most of the cost however.

I'm afraid I'll have to ask for help from supporters.

Full post where I am more through

Currently I am able to cover most of the cost, I have $700 but need $300. So I have a drive on my Kofi.

Thank you to anyone who is able to support, and a thank you to anyone who wishes they could. The thought is appreciated.

Please only give if you can.

idk man, got 'lucky' at best buy - got an asus ryzen 9 for 1k, guess it all depends on you|

if you need portable/battery, then go for it/best guess, otherwise, i prefer a tower

You likely aren't wrong realistically a Tower would likely be a better investment in the long run, but for my current living situation and for what I do something portable but reliable works best.

But thank you, I appreciate any input ?

in one of the forums I was just browsing, somebody (not sure if they're ok with being pinged here) was talking about a "semi-desktop", which is more portable than a desktop, but still requires peripherals. not sure if that'd suit you nor how easily you can find one let alone how much they cost though.
I remember looking up some cheap (>500$) laptops the other day for somebody else, but then again, I don't know if A) the sites selling them can be trusted nor B) if the specs are any good for what you'll need your laptop to do (they seemed pretty decent from what I recall though).

TL;DR: good luck there! I hope you can get your new laptop soon. maybe you'll even get lucky with a discount!

I responded to s comment someone left and for some reason on my end the emoji I left shows as a question mark. Oops
